Pekuakamiulnuatsh Takuhikan has  given the Heritage, Culture, and Territory division responsibility for implementing the Cultural Affirmation Policy of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh. This policy is based on salient aspects of Pekuakamiulnuatsh cultural heritage.

The mission of the Heritage, Culture, and Territory division is to preserve, promote, and develop the pekuakami aihitun (traditional activities of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh), more specifically the shashishnehlueun (language of the territory), as well as the community’s natural, material, and immaterial heritage. Its mission also includes encouraging optimal occupation of the collective Tshitassinu (our land) in relation to the philosophy of pekuakami aihitun and the ancient (thousands of years old) management of Pekuakamiulnuatsh sustainable development.
