This web site aims to introduce our research and, we hope, the great cultural wealth of the participating First Nation communities, as well as the challenges they face, their fight for control over their heritage, and their successes.

The internet provides enormous opportunities to share this information.
It also facilitates borrowing which can negatively impact those who created and who continue to bear these cultures. We hope that this web site inspires the curiosity to learn more about First Nation cultures while raising awareness about the need to respect and recognize these cultures and their artistic and symbolic creations.

Aboriginal research has evolved a great deal. Old-fashioned and disrespectful practices have been denounced. We are contributing to improving practices by constantly seeking out a better balance and respect for the people and communities involved. We are involved in the current reflections of the Assemblée des Premières Nations du Québec et du Labrador’s surrounding their research protocols.
