Musée amérindien de Mashteuiatsh

The Musée amérindien de Mashteuiatsh was created in 1977 on the banks of the Pekuakami (Lac Saint-Jean). Its mission is to preserve Ilnu cultural heritage and to foster its development, promotion, and transmission to future generations.

The Musée is the guardian of the living memory of a people who survived its unique history, of a language that has resisted falling into disuse. It provides a voice for other indigenous nations of North America that also have a story to tell.

The Musée amérindien offers a window on contemporary Ilnu and other indigenous creation which, like any other living culture, continue to evolve.
